It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 20th IEEE Symposium on Computers and Communications (ISCC 2015) in Larnaca, Cyprus. Since the 1st ISCC in 1995, the IEEE Symposium on Computers and Communications has been an international forum for the state-of-the-art research in the fields of computers and communications. ISCC 2015 provides an international technical forum for experts from industry and academia to exchange ideas and present results of ongoing research in most state-of-the-art areas of computer and communications, such as the challenging issues and opportunities related to the computing, sensing and communication in the era of the Internet of Things, Cloud Computing and Big Data.
Putting together ISCC 2015 has been a team effort. First of all, we would like to thank the authors of all submitted papers. Furthermore, we would like to express our gratitude to the program committee and to all external reviewers, who worked very hard on reviewing papers and providing suggestions for their improvements.
The technical program consists of 140 full-papers organized into the following tracks: Internet and Cloud Applications; SDN and Overlay Networks; Vehicular Networks; Sensor Networks and Mobile Sensing; Network Design, Optimization, and Management; QoS and QoE, Resource Management; Routing and Multicast; Fault Tolerance and Error Recovery; Social Networks and Crowdsourcing; and Signal, Speech, Image and Video Processing.
Also, our special thanks to the organisers of the six workshops which will be featured at the ISCC 2015, contributing a further 50 high quality full-papers, ensuring a rich complement to ISCC. with: Management of Cloud and Smart city systems (MoCS 2015), Performance Evaluation of Communications in Distributed Systems and Web based Service Architectures (PEDISWESA 2015), Smart City and Ubiquitous Computing Applications (SCUCA 2015), Distributed Mobile Systems & Services (DMSS 2015), A 5G Wireless Odyssey: 2020 (5G), and Security and Forensics in Communication Systems (SFCS 2015)
Moreover, we are proud and thankful of having two renowned keynote speakers at the 2015 edition of ISCC:
- Hamid Aghvami on “5G Tactile Internet-Challenges and opportunities”
- Pramod P. Khargonekar on “NSF Engineering Directorate: Research Directions in Communications and Computing”
Finally, we would like to thank our sponsors, IEEE, IEEE Computer Society, IEEE Communications Society, Austrian Airlines, Fuseami, the Cyprus Tourism Organisation and the University of Cyprus on their support of this conference.
We hope that you will find this program interesting and thought-provoking and that it will provide you with a valuable opportunity to share ideas with other researchers and practitioners from institutions around the world.
On behalf of the ISCC 2015 Executive Committee,
Andreas Pitsillides, ISCC 2015 General Co-Chair
University of Cyprus, Nicosia, Cyprus
Welcome Address by the ISCC 2015 Technical Program Committee Chairs.
Dear participants of the 20th IEEE Symposium on Computers and Communications (ISCC 2015), it is our great pleasure to welcome you all to what promises to be an interesting symposium.
As in previous years, the symposium continues the tradition of bringing together researchers and practitioners in computers and communications. The endurance of this organization through different turbulent times for the information and communications technology industry, and the world economy in general, is a testament to its importance and necessity.
The symposium received a total of 341 initial submissions, and the cooperation of the program chairs with the rest of the TPC has led to having a current, and of high scientific value, technical program. We made every possible effort to provide thorough reviews to the papers, so that authors of both accepted and rejected papers benefit from this process. This year we had 413 academics and researchers serving as TPC members and reviewers, from all over the world (Europe, US, Middle East and Asia) providing a total of 1227 individual reviews. All papers received, at least, three reviews and based on this evaluation we have selected 137 papers to become part of the final program. We hope that these proceedings will serve as a valuable reference point for the latest results in our field of research.
Our efforts have been supported by the Technical Co-Sponsorship of the IEEE Communications Society and the IEEE Computer Society.
ISCC 2015 will provide four days of exciting talks, presentations and discussions. The Technical program starts with a workshops day featuring six interesting topics. The symposium will run for the following three days, having four parallel tracks with varying topics each day.
Several people contributed to the successful organization of ISCC 2015. First, we thank the authors for submitting their work for evaluation and eventually providing the content of the program. We owe our sincere gratitude to the members of the Technical Program Committee and external reviewers for their excellent work in reviewing the papers and providing valuable feedback under a tight deadline.
The Publications chairs, and especially Dr. Josephina Antoniou, have provided invaluable services and many hours of double-checking, to ensure our program meets the criteria of our indexing service, IEEEXplore.
The whole endeavour would not have been successful if we did not have the full support and cooperation of the General Chair, Prof. Andreas Pitsillides, the Local Arrangement Chair Prof. George Angelos Papadopoulos, and of the Steering Committee.
We believe that all the participants will end up having the best experience possible not only in terms of academic excellence and vibrant discussions, but also in collegiality and enjoyment of this most beautiful place – Cyprus.
We are looking forward to meeting all of you personally in Larnaca.
